The story in Papa Luther is mostly made up. But that doesn't mean it doesn't tell a true story. Many of the places and events in the book really did take place- some of them we know for certain happened. With others, we aren't as sure. what we do know without question is that Luther's actions were the main cause of the Protestant Reformation. He clamed that anyone could access the love of God through simple faith in Jesus Christ. This belief spread, and it was nothing short of revolutionary.
